Frequently asked questions

Help with picking songs, playback, and getting back into a room.

Can I play alone or with two people?

The current game needs 3–16 players. There is no public matchmaking, so gather a group and share an invitation. Confirm the group in the lobby before starting instead of adding new players mid-game.

The video works on YouTube, but not in the preview.

A video can be viewable on YouTube yet blocked in embedded players. Private or deleted videos, region restrictions, age restrictions, and embedding settings can all affect playback. Choose another upload and check the preview again. Browser content blockers or network restrictions may also interfere. The game does not bypass restrictions or extract audio.

There is no sound, or the volume is too loud.

Your first visit starts muted at 20% volume. Adjust the audio controls on the home or game screen; this does not change anyone else's volume. At 0%, audio is silent. If unmuting does not help, check your device volume, the tab's mute state, and browser playback permissions.

Does everyone hear the exact same moment?

The host controls play, pause, and restart, and the other players follow those commands. YouTube ads, buffering, devices, and networks can introduce differences, so perfect synchronization is not guaranteed. If you fall behind, tell the group in chat and ask the host to pause or restart.

What happens if the host leaves?

The host's browser runs the game. Progress stops while the host is disconnected; another player does not automatically become host. The original host can use Return as host from the same site address and browser profile. Recovery is available for 24 hours after the last save. It cannot restore a room after clearing site data or from another device. Playback is paused when the host returns.

Can an old-address room continue on tunoop.party?

Browser storage is separate for each site address. For a room created at songu.liionksh11.workers.dev, the host must return using that address and the original browser. The new domain cannot automatically read the old recovery data. Start new games at tunoop.party.

Joining gets stuck, or the connection keeps dropping.

First check that the host is online and you have the correct invitation address. Guests can try reloading the same tab to recover their session. If a workplace or school network or VPN limits real-time connections, try another network. A relay can assist when a direct connection is unavailable, but connection is not guaranteed on every network.

Why can't I see the answers or scores yet?

Everyone votes on every song before the reveal starts. You do not guess the submitter or vote off-theme for your own song. All eligible players must finish voting before the host can move on. Submitted votes cannot be changed.

Who decides whether a song is off-theme?

Every player except the submitter can vote. A strict majority of those players must choose off-theme for the submitter to lose 100 points. That means 2 votes in a three-player game or 8 in a sixteen-player game. There is no automated music analysis. Discuss an unclear theme in chat before picking songs.

What if a player leaves during a game?

If a guest explicitly leaves using the leave button during a game, the remaining players return to the lobby to prepare a new game. Closing a tab is different from explicitly leaving. For a disconnected host, use the recovery guidance above. If the interruption is brief, first try restoring the same tab.

Do I have to allow analytics to play?

No. Optional analytics stays off until you allow it, and declining does not stop you playing. Change your choice under Privacy settings in the footer. Processing needed for game connections and your chosen YouTube playback is separate. See the Privacy policy for details.
